1. How It Works
Laser energy targets the melanin (pigment) within the hair follicle, converting light into heat to damage the follicle and reduce future hair growth while minimising the impact on surrounding skin.
Because hair grows in different cycles, a course of treatments is needed to target hairs at the most effective stage of their growth cycle.
2. Three Wavelengths. One Advanced System.
Our triple-wavelength technology combines three established laser wavelengths, allowing treatments to be tailored to individual skin tones, hair characteristics and treatment areas.
Alexandrite (755 nm)
Particularly effective for treating pigmented hair on lighter skin tones.
Diode (typically 800-810 nm)
An effective wavelength for reducing dark, coarse hair across a range of skin tones when appropriately selected and calibrated.
Nd:YAG (1064 nm)
Particularly valuable for treating darker skin tones due to its deeper penetration and lower absorption by melanin in the outer layers of the skin.
The appropriate wavelength and settings are selected according to your individual skin tone, hair characteristics and treatment area.
3. Suitable for All Skin Tones and Ethnicities
Our triple-wavelength system allows treatments to be personalised for a broad range of skin tones and ethnicities, including darker skin.
Your skin and hair are assessed before treatment to help determine the most appropriate settings for your individual needs. Professional assessment, correct settings and appropriate aftercare are essential for safe and effective results.
Laser hair removal works best on pigmented hair. White, grey, very light blonde and many red hairs may not respond effectively to laser treatment. For these hair colours, electrolysis may be a suitable alternative.
4. Your Journey to Smoother, Hair-Free Skin
Imagine spending less time worrying about unwanted hair and no longer planning your life around shaving or waxing.
With a personalised course of laser treatments, our goal is to help you achieve significant, long-term hair reduction and lasting smoothness.
A course of approximately 6-12 sessions is typically recommended, although the number required varies according to hair type, skin tone, hormonal factors and the treatment area. Maintenance treatments may be needed to manage future hair growth.
Results vary from person to person, but with the right treatment plan, you can work towards smoother skin and greater freedom from traditional hair-removal routines.
5. Treatments Available All Year Round
Laser hair removal can be performed throughout the year when appropriate precautions are followed. Avoiding tanning, protecting treated areas from sun exposure and following your therapist’s aftercare instructions are important parts of your treatment journey.
Common Questions
Is everyone a candidate for laser hair removal?
Not everyone is an ideal candidate for laser hair removal, as results depend largely on the colour, thickness and pigment of the hair.
At Valor, our advanced triple-wavelength laser combines Alexandrite, Diode and Nd:YAG technology, allowing us to tailor treatments to a broad range of skin tones and ethnicities. The correct wavelength and settings are selected according to your individual skin and hair characteristics.
Hair colour plays an important role in treatment success. Laser hair removal works by targeting the pigment (melanin) within the hair follicle. The best results are generally achieved on dark, coarse hair, which absorbs laser energy more effectively.
Fine, light-coloured or minimally pigmented hair, including white, grey, very light blonde and many red hairs, may respond poorly or not at all to laser treatment.
For these hair types, electrolysis is an excellent alternative, as it can treat hair of all colours and is suitable for all skin tones.
At Valor, every treatment begins with an individual assessment to help determine the most suitable approach for your hair-removal goals.

The right technology. The right treatment. A personalised approach to smoother skin.
What are commonly treated areas?
Laser hair removal and electrolysis can treat unwanted hair on many areas of the face and body, helping you achieve smoother skin and long-lasting results.
Our most commonly treated areas include:
✔ Face: Upper lip, chin, cheeks, sideburns and eyebrows
✔ Underarms
✔ Arms and hands
✔ Bikini and Brazilian (women only)
✔ Legs and feet
✔ Back and shoulders
✔ Chest and abdomen
✔ Neck
Some clients choose to treat individual areas, while others opt for multiple areas or full-body treatments.
Laser or electrolysis? The most suitable treatment depends on the area being treated, hair colour, hair thickness and skin characteristics. Laser is ideal for reducing pigmented hair over larger areas, while electrolysis can treat individual hairs of all colours, including white, grey, blonde and red.
Eyebrow hair can be treated with electrolysis or with a suitable, specifically designed laser handpiece, subject to appropriate eye-safety protocols and individual assessment.
Your treatment, your choice. At Valor, I tailor treatments to your individual needs and hair-removal goals.
What are the do's and don'ts of Laser
Pre-Care & Aftercare: The Dos and Don’ts
For safe, effective laser hair removal and the best possible results, it is important to follow the recommended pre-care and aftercare guidelines. These steps help prepare your skin, minimise irritation and support your treatment results.
BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT
✔ DO:
- Shave 24-48 hours before your appointment. This helps prepare the treatment area for laser hair removal.
- Arrive with clean skin. Ensure the treatment area is free from makeup, lotions, deodorant, body oils and other topical products.
- Keep your skin at its natural colour. Avoid tanning and artificial skin-darkening products before treatment.
- Inform your therapist about any medications, skincare products, recent skin treatments or changes in your health that may affect your suitability for laser.
✘ DON’T:
- Avoid sun exposure and tanning. Avoid tanning beds, sunbathing and unprotected sun exposure for at least 2-4 weeks before treatment, or as advised by your therapist.
- No spray tans or tan-enhancing creams. Do not apply self-tanners, spray tans or tanning solutions to the treatment area before your appointment. Your skin must be free from artificial tanning products.
- Avoid waxing, tweezing, threading and epilating for at least 4 weeks before treatment, as these methods remove the hair from the follicle. Shaving is permitted.
- No body oils for 48 hours before treatment. Avoid applying body oils to the treatment area.
AFTER YOUR APPOINTMENT
✔ DO:
- Soothe and hydrate your skin. Apply a suitable post-laser gel or aloe vera gel to help calm the treated area, provided your skin tolerates it and your therapist recommends it.
- Moisturise regularly. Once the skin has settled, use a gentle, fragrance-free moisturiser to support the skin barrier.
- Protect your skin from the sun. Apply broad-spectrum SPF 30-50 to exposed treated areas and limit direct sun exposure.
- Keep your skin cool. Use a cool compress if needed to soothe temporary redness or warmth.
- Follow your treatment plan. Attend your recommended sessions for optimal long-term hair reduction.
✘ DON’T:
- Avoid tanning for at least 2-4 weeks after treatment, or longer if advised. Do not use sunbeds, spray tans or tanning products on the treated area.
- Avoid excessive heat for 24-48 hours. This includes hot baths, saunas, steam rooms and intense exercise, particularly while the skin feels warm or sensitive.
- Avoid harsh skincare products on the treated area until the skin has settled. This includes exfoliants, scrubs, retinoids and strong acids.
- Do not wax, tweeze or epilate between sessions. Shaving is permitted once the skin has settled.
- Avoid perfumed products and body oils on freshly treated skin if they cause irritation.
- Do not pick, scratch or exfoliate the treated area if redness, sensitivity or irritation develops.
IMPORTANT NOTES
- Laser hair removal can be performed throughout the year when appropriate precautions are followed.
- Your skin should not be freshly tanned at the time of treatment. Recent tanning may increase the risk of burns and pigmentation changes.
- Temporary redness and mild swelling around the hair follicles can occur after treatment.
- Contact your therapist if you develop blistering, significant pain or an unexpected skin reaction.
Your skin deserves the right care before, during and after every treatment.
