Common Questions
Is everyone a candidate for electrolysis?
Electrolysis is suitable for most people, regardless of skin tone or hair colour, including blonde, red, grey, white, fine and stubborn hairs that may not respond effectively to laser. It is particularly useful for facial hair, individual hairs and areas where laser may not be suitable. However, each client should be assessed individually, as skin conditions, medications, healing response and certain hormonal factors may affect how treatment is performed.
What are commonly treated areas?
Electrolysis can be performed on almost any area where unwanted hair is present. Common treatment areas include the face, chin, upper lip, jawline, neck, eyebrows, sideburns, bikini line and other small or stubborn areas of the body. It is especially effective for precision work, such as removing individual hairs or treating remaining hairs after laser hair reduction.
What are the do's and don'ts of Electrolysis?
DO: Arrive with clean skin, keep the area moisturised between treatments, follow your therapist’s aftercare instructions and protect the treated area from excessive sun exposure. DON’T: Wax, tweeze, thread or pluck the hairs between electrolysis sessions, as the follicle needs to remain intact for treatment.
Avoid picking or scratching the treated area and avoid unnecessary heat, sweating, swimming and irritating skincare immediately after treatment.
